Baar Baar Dekho is struggling at the box office. Everything depends on the first weekend for a film. It is expected to make maximum profit at the box office in first three days so that the weekdays can ably support the count. But BBD’s below par start killed things for the film. Something which could have been our answer to Hollywood’s Back to The Future just added to the long list of such failed films. Guess this genre is the jinxed one. After almost finishing a week at the box office, Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra Baar Baar Dekho could make only 27.98 crore.
Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh revealed the figures on Twitter which read, “#BaarBaarDekho Fri 6.81 cr, Sat 7.65 cr, Sun 6.70 cr, Mon 2.37 cr, Tue 2.75 cr, Wed 1.70 cr. Total: ₹ 27.98 cr. India biz.” The film which was supposed to earn 8-9 crore on the opening day wrapped it up with just 61. 8 cr. Saturday saw a jump but what stunned trade was the drop on first Sunday which should never be the case for any film. That was a sign that something is very wrong with film. If that wasn’t enough, first Monday’s drop just severed its chances to ever recover from poor numbers. Tuesday was almost steady but Wednesday’s collection seems to be the last nail in the coffin. This is how it looks like when hopes get dashed so badly.
In an interview to The Quint, Siddharth spoke at length about Baar Baar Dekho‘s failure at the box office and whether he would like to do it differently if he gets a chance. “One must take advice on how a film is shaping up from those who have more experience. When I heard the script for Baar Baar Dekho it was one of the most exciting ideas I had come across. What a lovely thought! The heart was in the right place. The experience has made me more conscious of my future. Had Baar Baar Dekho worked better maybe I wouldn’t be so careful with the modalities of making a film. But I am still going to choose only those scripts that I believe in. I stand by my choices. If I like a script and a role it doesn’t matter how many other actors are there or how many scenes I have. All the films that I’ve done so far tell stories that I want to tell,” Sidharth revealed.
